In conjunction with North Carolina State University (NCSU), island-in-the-sea fibers with 1120 islands were spun on the Hills in-house pilot line. These fibers were drawn down to one denier. The sea polymer was PVA and fibers with polypropylene, polyester and nylon island fibers were all produced. The resulting nano fibers were taken to NCSU and analyzed. INS fiber with up to 3000 islands were later spun in the lab. Parties interested in developing or producing such fibers on our in-house equipment should contact Jim Brang, Product Development Manager
